International Matex Tank Terminal Grass Roots Bulk Terminal


This was a grass roots project for Cajun received both OSBL and ISBL work. The scope of work included deep foundations (pre-cast concrete piling), structural concrete, paving, underground utilities, structural steel, piping and equipment setting. Cajun constructed 31 tank ring-wall foundations with HDPE liners, a 130,000 SF drumming facility foundation, 4 major pump pits, several large pipe bridges, the main pipe rack and the dock facilities. One of the large pipe bridges spanned 210 LF and weighed approximately 152 tons, it was installed it using two 500 ton cranes.

Work Performed

  • Construction of 2,500 LF of pipe rack foundations
  • Placement of 20,000+/- CY of concrete
  • Installation of 15,000 tons limestone surfacing
  • Installation of 1,300 pre-cast concrete piles
  • Placement of 4,500 tons of structural steel
  • Installation of 280,000 LF pipe including 52,000 LF of pre-insulated pipe ranging from 4” to 12”, which required delicate installation
  • Setting of 240 pieces of equipment
  • Pipe bridges up to 210 LF weighing 152 tons
