Entergy Gulf States Michigan Substation

LAKE CHARLES, LA
LAKE CHARLES, LA

Cajun was contracted to drill and pour 81 EA 36” diameter drill shaft foundations ranging in depth from 10’-16’ deep and 6 EA 72” diameter x 31’ deep drill shaft foundations for a new substation.

Accomplishments

  • Eliminated some anticipated costs drilling all the 36” diameter shafts using the dry drill method instead of the slurry drill method. We originally anticipated a third of the 36” drill shafts would need the slurry drill method.

Work Performed

  • Dry drill and pour 81 EA 36” diameter drill shaft foundations
  • Slurry drill and pour 6 EA 72” diameter drill shaft foundations
  • Set full-length reinforcement cage
  • Set anchor bolts
  • Form and pour above grade caps

Work Performed

  • 4-month duration
  • 1,413 man-hours
