Entergy 500kV Transmission Line Repair

Cajun was contracted by Entergy to join their storm restoration team repairing the 500kV Keo-West Memphis transmission line, which was significantly damaged during a tornado. The transmission line is the main high voltage link between Little Rock, AR and Memphis, TN. Cajun’s scope of work included the removal of damaged transmission line towers, the installation of new transmission line caissons and structures, and assisting with new conductor stringing and spacer installation activities.

Accomplishments

  • Cajun was selected to lead the project’s morning safety meetings and stretches for all 8 contractors working on the project. Cajun was recognized as a leader in safety.
  • Cajun’s crews were provided more scope of work and asked to remain on the project longer due to the safe work of the crews, the efficiency which the crews maintained, and the expertise of the supervision that Entergy valued.

Work Performed

  • Assisted with the demolition of over 30 damaged transmission lattice towers.
  • Installed over 40 new 42” diameter x 20’ long caissons for new transmission H-frame structures.
  • Installed steel H-frame poles, crossarms, and insulators.
  • Assisted with new conductor (wire) stringing and spacer installation.
