LNG Facility – Storm Surge Wall

Cajun industries was contracted to construct the Storm Surge Wall Protection System for a new LNG Export facility in Cameron, LA. The project is located on approximately 1,150 acres, with the surge wall encompassing the 21,842 LF perimeter. The Storm Surge Wall System was designed by Moffatt & Nichol to withstand a 500-year storm surge event to protect from the seasonal hurricanes experienced in the region. The Storm Surge Wall projects 31 feet above sea level and spans over 4 miles of flood protection around the perimeter of the project. The wall consists of a combined battered pipe piling and sheet piling system as well as 5 large access gates to facilitate module deliveries and construction traffic. In total, over 145,000,000 lbs of steel was offloaded and installed to create this Storm Surge Wall Protection System.
