EPFC GIS Buildings 1 & 2

Cajun Industries was selected to provide full Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, and Construction (EPC) services for the delivery of two multi-story, blast-resistant precast concrete Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) buildings, each measuring approximately 200 feet by 45 feet. Designed to withstand a 1.5 psi blast loading, these hardened structures were engineered to house critical high-voltage GIS equipment and associated electrical infrastructure. The project scope also included the design and construction of two precast concrete control buildings of similar construction, providing integrated operational and control capabilities. This turnkey EPC solution incorporated structural, electrical, HVAC, fire protection, grounding, and utility systems, resulting in a highly resilient and secure facility that enhances grid reliability, operational continuity, and personnel safety within the client’s power distribution network.

Work Performed

• 628 EA 120″ precast concrete piles
• 2 EA 2,800 CY pile caps
• Pre-cast building supply/erection of
   framing, wall panels and roof
• 300 TNS of structural steel
• HVAC/fire suppression
   /electrical/grounding

The project delivered several critical engineering and construction milestones:

Blast-Resistant GIS Facilities

Two multi-level precast concrete structures
designed for 1.5 psi blast resistance.

Turnkey EPC Execution

Full engineering, procurement, and
building infrastructure.

Enhanced Grid Reliability

Hardened facilities supporting safe, resilient, and reliable power distribution operations.
