Client: Marathon Petroleum Company
Location: Garyville, LA
Description: This project was a major expansion of the Marathon Petroleum facility. The purpose of the program was to increase the size of the facility by 180,000 barrels per day. Cajun’s scope of work included installation of 17,167 piles (pre-cast, timber, pipe, Auger Cast-In-Place (ACIP), limited access and low overhead), installation of sheet piles, placement of over 57,000 CY of structural concrete, installation of over 30,000 LF of underground piping, modification of existing utilities and excavation of approximately 100,000 CY.
Much of the project was designated as a green site, but a large amount of the work was performed in and around the operating plant as it maintained its day-to-day activities. The construction phase of the project followed engineering and procurement closely, resulting in continual drawing revisions. Cajun was able to efficiently modify the construction work plan to minimize any related impacts.
Cajun worked over 309,800 man-hours with manpower peaking at over 600.
