NRG Pike County Power Plant
Location: McComb, MS
Description: Cajun was contracted by the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) firm to perform site development for the 96 acre site, pre-cast piling, utility installation and structural concrete for the 1100MW combined cycle power plant. The site was located in a remote area, requiring major road construction to afford access to the site. The site was susceptible to flooding during heavy rain events. As a result, Cajun developed a creative water control strategy that avoided such flooding, thereby mitigating the associated risks.
Cajun’s scope involved excavation of 198,000 CY, placement of 233,000 CY of imported fill, placement of 62,000 tons of limestone, installation of over 1,600 pre-cast concrete piles, installation of 6,726 LF of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping, installation of 10,195 LF of carbon steel piping and placement of 16,245 CY of concrete.
Peak manpower for the project reached 300, and Cajun performed 450,000 man-hours with no OSHA recordable incidents.
