Location: New Orleans, LA
Description: Cajun teamed with a local engineering firm to execute a design-build scope of work for construction of 15 temporary developments following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The developments accommodated approximately 1,200 housing units. Each site was developed to provide all services and infrastructure required to create a viable community while complying with all federal and local guidelines and requirements.
Cajun’s scope included site assessment and verification of feasibility, site work, utility relocations, installation of domestic water, fire prevention, installation of sanitary sewer and storm water drainage systems, construction of roadways and sidewalks, fencing, electrical service, construction of utility racks and supports for above ground utilities, communications infrastructure and housing installations.
This work was performed in the aftermath of the storms with significantly limited labor and material resources, and Cajun was able to complete all work with no OSHA recordable incidents.
