Description: Cajun constructed a new 50,000 SF, completely enclosed, state-of-the-art pipe fabrication facility with a separate, 2,500 SF Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) building. Cajun was responsible for design of the vertical structure, requiring coordination by the project team with all design disciplines including geotechnical, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical. The scope of work included installation of a redundant looped compressed air system, installation of a looped Argon and Co2 welding gas system, construction of an electrical system, construction of two independent exhaust systems with a total capacity of 900,000 CF per minute and construction of specialty systems to include fire alarms, access controls, security, inventory management, energy efficient lighting control and Closed-circuit Television (CCTV).
Cajun excavated 32,000 CY of soil, placed 7,000 CY of imported fill, placed 26,250 tons of limestone, installed 625 LF of piping, installed 200 timber piles with tension uplift connectors, installed 19,000 SF of 6” and 8” paving, placed 2,500 CY of concrete, installed 350 tons of steel, installed 115,500 SF of metal panels, placed 15,000 12” Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) blocks, installed 9,000 SF of mechanical decking, installed three 10 ton and six 5 ton single girder overhead bridge cranes and installed 21 half ton cantilevered jib cranes.
Cajun worked over 140,000 man-hours with no OSHA recordable incidents.
