Description: The 137 MMgy renewable diesel plant facility is located adjacent to the Valero St. Charles Refinery on a 20 acre site. Cajun was contracted to perform heavy civil construction for the new facility. Cajun’s work involved a variety of civil disciplines and activities such as excavation, piling, backfill, foundations construction, sump construction and drainage structure construction.
Cajun placed 204,500 CY of backfill, drove 10,160 piles, placed 14,324 CY of concrete, installed over 22,000 LF of piping, installed 45,000 tons of limestone and placed 30,000 SY of asphalt paving. Cajun also constructed a half mile of new railroad to the property entrance from the existing rail mainline and installed a 500’ long rail bridge with 6,800 LF of new rail tracks, two tie-ins, six new switches, a new rail scale and two road crossings.
Cajun self-performed over 96% of the labor and worked 265,000 man-hours with no OSHA recordable incidents.
